Can you introduce yourself and explain your career ?
Hi, I'm Didier, I was born on Réunion Island, in the Indian Ocean. I studied at Gobelins, a French animation school. Since my graduation, I've been working for 3D animated feature films as a story artist.
During my free time, I draw funny comics with cute pets, shared on my blog Mad Animal Stories.
What made you begin drawing comics?
When I was a kid, I saw a TV documentary about Gotlib, a French comic artist. Drawing comics seemed a cool way to spend time...
How do you describe your world, and your blog ?
My blog is full of cute and crazy pets, who experience situations similar to humans' ! I also illustrate some "facts" and "quotes" in a crazy and funny way.
How was born the idea to launch this blog?
I was tired to work on others' scripts. So, one day, I decided to draw and share my own stories, and voilà !
Which tools and techniques do you use to draw?
I draw with pen and Japanese ink. After that, I colorize on computer.
What are your influences?
American shows, like Dexter, Homeland, Walking Dead.... But it has nothing to do with my own comics!
What is your latest favorite comic?
It's "Quai d'Orsay " drawn by Christophe Blain. It's about French politicians. I'm not very fond of politics, but this comic is very funny.
